9 Germ-Infested Spots

That Are Not Commonly Disinfected

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that our use of public spaces, and some private/residential ones, are not cleaned and disinfected to the full extent. It’s not that we’re not trying, it’s just that it’s physically impossible to clean and disinfect some areas without a special disinfecting application. A lot of times we want to hose down areas with bleach, but that’s not very practical for every situation - especially if there are electronics involved.

Here are 9 of the most commonly under-disinfected areas.

Door Handles

Doors are one of the most germ-infested areas of any business or home. There are so many gaps and crevices where germs can reside that a simple wipe-down will not do. This is where a professional disinfecting service using a misting system shines. A good disinfecting company will use a mister that shoots tiny droplets of disinfectant throughout the entire door handle.

Under Tables

Most people don’t think about it, but underneath tables in office break rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, etc. are germ-central. People touch the bottom of tables when they’re moving them around or scooting forward. Most cleaning people will never clean underneath a table - especially not in a way to truly disinfect the table.

Backs and Underneath Chairs

Chairs are not typically wiped down, so expecting the backs and bottoms of chairs to be disinfected is unlikely.

Community and Apartment Mailboxes

Apartment mailboxes are a haven for germs and rarely cleaned. Mailbox keyholes and door handles can be a haven for germs. A simple wipe down with disinfectant may not do the trick to sanitize all the gaps, corners, and recesses.

Workout Machine Handles

How well or often do workout equipment handles get disinfected? Gym-goers tend to wipe down the bench tops, but forget the handles next to the leg press, hyperextension, or the under the leg curl machines.

Dumbbells

On top of workout equipment handles, dumbbell handles are typically not thought of for a wipe-down. Dumbbells typically have handle groves that need special care. A professional disinfecting service using a mister will be able to disinfect the dumbbell handles in mass.

Restroom Paper Towel Lever

If your office or business’ restroom doesn't have motion sensor paper towel dispensers, you’ll need to pay special attention to the levers on paper towel dispensers. Restroom paper towel levers are so frequently used that it’s amazing that they’re not cleaned very often. When cleaning, be sure to clean the underside of these as it’s often overlooked. To make it easy, consider replacing your manual paper towel machines with ones that dispense paper towels automatically.

Apartment Laundry Rooms

Laundry rooms are rarely disinfected. They may be wiped down by cleaning services, but that’s not the same thing as being disinfected. An apartment’s laundry room, or laundry rooms in general, are excellent candidates for a professional disinfecting service. The disinfecting mist can wrap around all the washer/dryer buttons, vending machines, and even cover the chairs in a typical laundry room.

Gas Pumps

Gas pumps are notorious for spreading germs. They are used every day and quite frequently. Gas pumps are incredibly difficult to clean by hand - much less cleaned well. If you’re not using a professional disinfecting service, you may not be disinfecting your gas pumps fully.
