Diatomaceous Earth (dust) is an effective pest control option. However, it is not to be used liberally.

Dust is all-natural; however, people tend to think that you can use it everywhere. The problem with that is that Diatomaceous Earth is a silica base. If you use it throughout your house, you can breathe it in. This could cause health problems.

Diatomaceous Earth is to be used very lightly and in specific places away from people and pets.

Wall voids and pipe penetrations (not in the pipes) are common areas to use dust.
